Text: Psalm 77:14 “You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.”
INTRODUCTION
Every generation is looking for a God who can do what no man can do. A God who turns dry ground to water, who makes a way in the wilderness, who brings life to dead situations.
That is the God we serve. He is not just God of yesterday. He is *THE GOD OF WONDER*.
The word “Wonder” means something that causes amazement, something that makes you stop and say “Only God can do this”.
Today, I want us to see three truths about our God of Wonder.
1: GOD OF WONDER IS A GOD OF CREATION
Psalm 139:14 – “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
Look at yourself. Your heartbeat, your breath, your eyes, the way God wired you. That is a wonder.
Genesis 1:1 – “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
From nothing, He spoke and world came into being.
If He can create the universe, He can create a new job for you.
If He can form you in your mother’s womb, He can form a new situation in your life.
The same God who designed the stars knows your name. Don’t despise the small things God has done. That is already a wonder.
2: GOD OF WONDER IS A GOD OF MIRACLES
Exodus 3:20 “So I will stretch out my hand and strike the Egyptians with all the wonders that I will perform in it…
God specializes in impossible cases.
1. He parts seas – *Exodus 14:21* The Red Sea opened for Israel. That path you don’t see? God will open it.
2. He feeds multitudes – *John 6:11-13* Five loaves and two fishes fed 5,000. Your little will be multiplied in His hands.
3. He raises the dead – *John 11:43-44* Lazarus came out after four days. That dead business, dead marriage, dead hope… Jesus is calling it forth.
Jeremiah 32:27 – “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?”
No. Nothing is too hard for the God of Wonder.
What looks like a problem to men is an opportunity for God to show His wonder.
3: GOD OF WONDER IS A GOD WHO STILL WORKS TODAY
Some people think miracles stopped. No.
Hebrews 13:8 -: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
Acts 2:22 – “Jesus of Nazareth, a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs…”
The same God who healed the blind, who delivered the oppressed, who provided for Elijah by ravens… is still on the throne.
Psalm 86:10* “For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God.”
Your testimony will be: “This can only be God”. That promotion, that healing, that open door, that peace in your home.
Expect wonder. Don’t enter next week with doubt. Enter with faith. A God of wonder is looking for people of faith to show Himself strong.
CONCLUSION
The God of Wonder is not far. Psalm 145:3 “Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.”
Maybe your ground is dry. Maybe your path is slippery.
The God of Wonder will water your dry ground and solidify your slippery path. Your trees will bear fruit bountifully and in season, in Jesus’ name.
Two things God is asking of you today:
1. Worship Him for His wonders – Psalm 77:11 “I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.”
2. Trust Him for new wonders – Don’t limit Him with your past.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Father, I thank you because you are the God of Wonder. Perform a wonder in my life.
2. Every dry area of my life, be watered by the hand of God, in Jesus name.
3. God of wonder, show up at the point of my need and silence my mockers, in Jesus mighty name.
4. My trees shall bear fruit bountifully and in season, in Jesus name.
Blessing: May the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of Wonder, surprise you. May men and women favour you and may God meet you at the point of your needs, in Jesus’ mighty name.
