Texts: Deuteronomy 28:1–2; Isaiah 1:19; Luke 5:4–6
BELOVED of God, one of the greatest mysteries of the Kingdom is obedience.
Many people pray, many people fast, many people sleep in the church, many people spends weeks and months on the mountain, many people give, but heaven does not open merely because someone is spiritual. Heaven opens when a man aligns himself with the instructions of God through obedience.
The Bible says in Isaiah 1:19 “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.”
Note that the Scripture did not say if you are gifted, it did not say if you are called, it did not say if you are anointed, it did not say if you are intelligent or can quote the Bible verses accurately.
But the Bible says: if you are willing and obedient. God responds to obedience more than activity.
There are people who are busy in church but disobedient to God, and there are people who are quiet but obedient, and destiny answers to them.
WHAT IS OBEDIENCE?
Obedience is complete surrender to God’s instruction without argument, delay, debate, or modification.
True obedience means: do what God asks you to do without any hesitation at the time He wants to do it and in the very way He wants it done and without compromise.
Delayed obedience is disobedience.
Partial obedience is rebellion in disguise. The Bible says in 1 Samuel 15:22 *”To obey is better than sacrifice.”*
What God wants is your obedience and not your religious performance or activities.
WHY OBEDIENCE ACTIVATES DESTINY?
1. Obedience Proves Your Trust In God
When you obey God, you are saying: Lord, I trust Your wisdom above my understanding. The Bible says in Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
When you trust God, you don’t walk blindly. Obedience gives light and direction. Obedience is faith in action. The Lord moves and acts for people who trust God enough to obey Him. Trusting God removes anxiety and replaces it with peace.
Even when things are not perfect, your heart remains calm when you God’s instructions.
2. Obedience Activates Divine Covenants
Many promises in Scripture are conditional.
For Example: Deuteronomy 28:1 says,
“If thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God…”
The blessings follow obedience.
Heaven is waiting for alignment.
When obedience appears, God responds.
3. Obedience Invites Divine Intervention.
There are miracles that happen only after obedience.
In Luke 5:4 Jesus told Peter: “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets.”
Peter, a shrewd fisherman, had fished all night and caught nothing.
But Peter said in obedience:
“Nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.”
The Bible says the net broke because of the abundance of fish.
The miracle was waiting for your obedience. Miracles hide in obedience.
1. ABRAHAM — Obedience That Activated Covenant Blessing
Genesis 22:16–18
Abraham obeyed God by offering Isaac. After that obedience, God declared in Genesis 22:16-17
“And said, By Myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son”
That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies”
One act of obedience opened door for generational blessings.
Abraham became father of nations because of his obedience to God’s Word.
2. MOSES — Obedience That Did The Unthinkable.
God told Moses in Exodus 14:16 “But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.”
As simple as the instruction looked Moses obeyed, the Red Sea parted, and the Israelites crossed the the Red Sea on a smooth dry ground. Sometimes your miracle is hidden inside a strange and unimaginable instruction.
3. THE WIDOW OF ZAREPHATH — Obedience That Brought Supernatural Provision.
In 1 Kings 17: 13-16: She had only a little flour and oil left for her and her son to eat and expect the death to come.
But the prophet told her: “Make me a cake first.” She obeyed. She didn’t doubt. The Bible says: The flour did not finish and the oil did not run dry because of her simple obedience.
Obedience opened inexhaustible supernatural supply.
4. JESUS — Obedience That Opened Heaven.
The greatest example is Jesus.
The Bible says in Philippians 2:8
“He became obedient unto death.”
He has all it takes not to go to the cross but He had to obey the Will of His Father.
And when Jesus was to be baptized,
He told John to do the baptism for Him in order to fulfil all righteousness.
And the heavens opened during His because of His obedience of baptism. Obedience always leads to open heavens.
Enemies of obedience you must run away from:
1. Pride
2. Fear
3. Doubt and unbelief
4. Worldly attachment
5. Delayed response to God’s voice
Many destinies are delayed not because God is silent, but because people refuse to obey.
Beloved, I beseech you therefore, let your obedience to God’s instructions be immediate, complete, and consistent. When God speaks, act quickly. Do not modify God’s instruction. Obey God daily, not occasionally.
1. Pray for the heart that delights in obeying God’s Word.
2. Ask the Lord to destroy every spirit of rebellion operating in your life.
3. Pray that every blessing tied to obedience, manifest in your life.
4. Ask for the grace to obey difficult and simple instructions to fall upon you.
5. Pray that the Lord make you always sensitive to God’s voice.
I hereby decree by the mandate of heaven that your obedience shall bring generational blessings to you in Jesus’ Name!
Many people want open heavens, but they refuse open obedience.
God is not looking for perfect people.
He is looking for people who will say YES to Him.
The reason some prayers are delayed is because God is waiting for your obedience.
Today the Lord is asking you:
“Will you obey Me?”
