THE Lagos State Government has taken a significant step to promote healthier marriages and prevent domestic violence by launching an online pre-marital counselling course for pastors, imams, and faith-based marriage counsellors.
The initiative, announced by the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), aims to equip faith leaders with practical tools to guide couples towards violence-free marriages.
The course recognizes the influential role faith leaders play in marriage preparation, as many couples seek guidance from them before getting married. By combining faith-based perspectives with modern relationship education, the programme seeks to strengthen family foundations and promote communication, respect, and accountability in relationships.
The online course is designed to be flexible and accessible, featuring self-paced modules, case studies, and assessments. Upon completion, participants will receive certification, enhancing professionalism and accountability in faith-based counselling.

– SGBV prevention and recognition of early warning signs of abusive relationships
– Practical guidance on counselling couples
