Theme: God specializes in giving fresh hope when your old hope has run dry
INTRODUCTION
Have you ever felt like: “I’m tired of hoping. I’ve prayed, I’ve waited, nothing is changing.”
That’s where many people were in the Bible.
The Israelites in exile. Hannah at Shiloh. The disciples after the cross.
But God is the God of Hope Renewal.
Romans 15:13 – “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Today God wants to renew your hope.
1: WHY OUR HOPE RUNS OUT
Hope fails not because God fails, but because of three things:
1. Delay – Proverbs 13:12 “Hope deferred makes the heart sick”
You’ve been waiting so long, you’re tired.
2. Disappointment – Job 6:20 “They were ashamed because they had hoped”
People failed you. Doors closed.
3. Discouragement – Psalm 42:11 “Why are you cast down, O my soul?”
Truth: Worn-out hope doesn’t mean God is done. It means you need a renewal.
2: THE GOD OF HOPE RENEWAL
The Bible shows us God doesn’t give us one-time hope. He renews it.
Enriching Verses:
1. Lamentations 3:22-23 – “Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”
God’s mercy = daily hope renewal.
2. Isaiah 40:31 – “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles…”
Waiting on God refuels hope.
3. Psalm 42:5 – “Why are you cast down, O my soul?… Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him”
David talked to his soul and renewed his hope.
Illustration: The valley of dry bones – Ezekiel 37:1-5. No hope, no life. But God said “Prophesy to these bones… and breath will come”. God can put hope back into dead situations.
3: FOUR WAYS GOD RENEWS OUR HOPE
1. Through His Word – Romans 15:4 “For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.” Read the promises. Your situation is not new to God.
2. Through His Presence – Psalm 16:11 “In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
Hope comes back in worship and prayer.
3. Through His Promises – Hebrews 10:23 “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.”
God cannot lie. What He said, He will do.
4. Through His People – 1 Thessalonians 5:11 “Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.”
God sends people to lift your hope.
4: WHAT RENEWED HOPE DOES
When hope is renewed:
1. Strength Returns – Isaiah 40:31 You start running again
2. Joy Returns – Romans 15:13 “joy and peace in believing”
3. Faith Returns – Hebrews 11:1 “Faith is the substance of things hoped for”
4. Purpose Returns – Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you… thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
DECLARATIONS FOR HOPE RENEWAL
1. Father, renew my hope today. Let Your Spirit fill me again! Romans 15:13
2. Every dry bone in my life, hear the word of the Lord: Live again! Ezekiel 37:4
3. Lord, I refuse to be cast down. I will hope in You! Psalm 42:5
4. My waiting season is over. I receive new strength like the eagle! Isaiah 40:31
5. God of hope, turn my mourning into dancing and my weeping into joy!
PRAYER: Father, many of us came in with tired hope. Hope for marriage, for children, for job, for healing, for Nigeria. Today, be the God of Hope again.
Jeremiah 17:7 – “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord.”
If your hope has died, bring it to Jesus. He is alive, and He gives living hope.
1 Peter 1:3 – “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope…”
Come to the throne of grace. Receive fresh hope today. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
