Text: 2 Kings 2:19-21
Introduction
There are things in life that look good on the surface but are broken underneath. Jericho was called “a pleasant city” but the water was bad and the land was barren. Many of us have “pleasant” names, titles, or appearances, yet the foundation of our lives, family, destiny, or finances is damaged.
Today we cry: FATHER, VISIT MY FOUNDATION. When God visits a foundation, He doesn’t manage it. He heals it, He restores it, He makes it new.
The Problem Of A Corrupt Foundation – 2 Kings 2:19*
“The men of the city said to Elisha, ‘Behold, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the land is barren.’”
Pleasant on the outside, polluted inside: You can look successful while your foundation is sick.
Bad water, barren land: Bad foundation produces bad results. Unfruitfulness, repeated cycles, hardship can trace back to a foundation.
A foundation is the unseen part that determines what stands. Psalm 11:3 says, “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?”
The Solution: Divine Visitation And Intervention – 2 Kings 2:20-21*
Elisha didn’t pray for 40 days. He asked for a new bowl and salt. Then he went to the source of the water, the spring, and threw salt in it. He declared, “Thus says the Lord: I have healed this water. From now on neither death nor miscarriage shall come from it.”
God visits foundations: Exodus 20:5 speaks of visiting iniquity, but God also visits to redeem. Luke 1:68 says, “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his people.”
He goes to the source: God doesn’t just deal with symptoms. He deals with the root. He enters the “spring” of your life and purifies it.
He uses covenant materials: Salt represents preservation and covenant. When God visits, He establishes a new covenant over your foundation.
Biblical Backups For Foundation Restoration
Isaiah 58:12: “And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations.” God is a repairer of broken foundations.
Job 8:7: “Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end shall be greatly increased.” God can overturn a bad start.
Zechariah 4:9: “The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also complete it.” What God starts at your foundation, He will finish.
Ephesians 2:20: “Built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone.” If your life foundation is not Christ, ask Him to become the cornerstone today.
Prayer Points: FATHER, VISIT MY FOUNDATION
1. Every evil foundation speaking against my destiny, by fire, be broken in Jesus’ name. Psalm 82:5
2. Father, enter the spring of my life and heal every pollution, in Jesus’ name. 2 Kings 2:21
3. Any curse of barrenness, failure, or backwardness from my foundation, die by fire. Galatians 3:13
4. O Lord, lay a new foundation for me with the cornerstone of Christ. Isaiah 28:16
5. Powers from my father’s house and mother’s house delaying me, scatter now. Psalm 94:1
Jericho’s story didn’t end with “barren land.” It ended with healing because God visited. No matter what your foundation looks like today, God can still visit and make it new.
If your foundation is Christ, you can stand any storm. Matthew 7:25. If it is not, surrender to Him now.
Prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus, visit my foundation today. Heal every hidden damage. Remove every evil deposit. Let my latter end be greater than my beginning. Establish me on the solid rock of Christ. Amen.
