A night vigil in Kwara State turned deadly when suspected bandits attacked, leaving 3 worshippers dead and 15 abducted. The attack happened Saturday around 8:30pm at Ori-Oke Ajaiye, a village in Ekiti Local Government Area.
The Kwara State Police Command confirmed the incident, calling it “cruel and unacceptable”. According to police spokesperson SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the attackers stormed the prayer ground while church members were gathered, firing shots and taking several worshippers away.
The incident has sparked panic in the community. Pastor Adebayo Abiodun of Ijo Ajaiye Ati Igbala reported the attack to the police, saying the gunmen took several people to an unknown destination. Authorities are yet to comment on the status of the abducted worshippers or any potential rescue efforts.
